Brint Shone

Co-Founder

Brint played college soccer at the University of Maine Blackbears and continued his career as the goal keeper for the, then professional, NH Phantoms. Following is college and brief professional career Brint was one of the founding members of Seacoast United and worked full time for SU from 1995-2004 where he was the Director of Goal Keeping, Summer Camp Coordinator received his US Soccer National D License and coached numerous teams achieving over 20 NH State Championships, trips to Regional Semi-Finals, Tournament wins in CT, NJ, NY, NH, MA and VT. Brint also took many teams abroad coaching with US teams playing in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Holland, UK, Belgium and Portugal. In addition to his youth coaching Brint was also the Goalkeeper coach for the University of New Hampshire Men's and Women's programs from 1995-2002 as well as the NH ODP Goalkeeping Coach from 1996-2000. Brint is also proud of the numerous keepers he's training playing for division I, II & III schools in addition to one trainee playing for the U17 Women's National Team. Brint lives in Portsmouth with his beautiful family. 

Caleb Paterson

Co-Founder

Former All-New England Midfielder from Keene State College. Caleb quickly transitioned onto the coaching scene with Seacoast United Soccer Club in 2010 overseeing multiple teams, programs, and facilities over his 7-year tenure with the club. During this time, Caleb also oversaw the Portsmouth Varsity Boys Program from 2013-2015 guiding the program to their first NHIAA D2 Championship game. Caleb is a long-standing advocate of youth soccer and has continued supporting both local and High School Programs develop by co-founding the Fusion Soccer Academy Brand. Caleb Holds a USSF National C Level Coaching Certification.

Matthew Glode

Co-Owner

Matt played collegiate soccer for UNH from 2000-2004 where he also earned a degree in psychology. Matt worked 11 years as a full time staff for Seacoast United Sports club coaching their premier level teams and, at various times, directed their Grassroots program, Summer Community and Residential Camps & Staff, Community Partnerships, York Indoor Facility, Amesbury Indoor Facility & Turf Field Complex and Seacoast United Admirals Soccer Club. More recently he was the Executive Director for Oyster River Youth Association managing 30+ youth sport programs a year across 10+ sports. After 8 years as the ED for ORYA, he worked briefly as the Turf Director for the New England Sports Hub before moving back to his passion for soccer development full-time while also accepting the Dover High School boys varsity position starting in the fall of 2025.

Matt played his youth soccer with Seacoast United, winning 6 straight State championships, played one season as a paid player with the USL Pro-Select League NH Phantoms in 2005 and returned to USL PDL play in 2011 and 2012. He currently holds a US Youth Soccer Youth National License, NSCAA National Diploma and USSF National C License. 

Eric Martens

Co-Owner

Eric Martens is a former collegiate soccer player who moved to the seacoast region in 2013. Martens has devoted his time to helping the youth as a classroom teacher and soccer coach. As a soccer coach Martens has excelled with players of all ages and abilities. He has worked with players as young as three all the way up to players playing at the collegiate level. Currently, Martens is the head coach at Portsmouth High School where he led them to their first winning season in division 1. Coach Martens continues to work in local areas around the state of New Hampshire to improve the beautiful game.

Sarah Michaud

Co-Director

Sarah Michaud is a 2005 graduate of Oyster River High School in Durham, NH and a 2009 graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. During her time at Rider she was a member of their Division 1 field hockey team, where she majored in Behavioral Neuroscience and minored in Healthcare Administration. After graduation she moved back to New Hampshire and got a job teaching at the Birchtree Center, a school for children with severe autism. During her time at the Birchtree Center she threw all of her competitive energy into coaching for the Seacoast Field Hockey Club, and earned her Level 2 Coaching certificate with the USA Field Hockey program. In 2014 Sarah started the role as the Director of Operations for Seacoast Field Hockey Club and in 2016 she took over as the Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach at Dover High School. In the past five years, Dover has made 3 state championship appearances, winning the title in 2023 for the first time since 1975. In 2023 Sarah stepped down as the Director of Field Hockey at Seacoast to focus on her family, but continues to share her love and passion for the game by running youth programs and coaching at Dover High School. Sarah lives in Nottingham with her husband and two sons. 

Sam Fahey

Co-Director

Most recently Fahey is in her fourth year as head field hockey coach at Phillips Exeter Academy. She spent 8 years as assistant at Columbia University, 5 of those years as a First Assistant where she was heavily involved with on-field preparation, training and served as the program’s recruiting coordinator. Other previous collegiate coaching stops were Michigan State University, University of New Hampshire and Harvard University. She also served as an assistant coach for the USA Field Hockey Junior High Performance Program and Director of Field Operations for Seacoast United in 2013. Fahey earned a bachelor's degree from UNH in 2004 and a Master's degree in Kinesiology and Sports Administration at Michigan State.

Fusion utilizes some of the best coaches in the region. Many have moved on from full-time coaching & staff positions in premier clubs to other careers but still want to share their passion and expertise. They now coach because of their love for seeing players reach the potential they know is inside. Our coaches demand players attention and dedication to improvement & competition. They want players to showcase their desire to be there and get as much out of each session as possible.
